This poem is a self-examination in honour of Socrates who was purportedly the one who gave us the aphorism: An unexamined life is not worth living. For those fascinated with the art of poetry, it is annotated and I have added a couple of challenges at the bottom to encourage you to embark on your own self-examination. There is an extra intertextual challenge which requires higher-order thinking, in order to find a message from an examination of the photos and poem together. All the photos are from my childhood, except the one of my mother and I entertaining everyone at her 80th birthday. More than anything, I hope that my poems make people think, apart from enjoying the wonder of ideas, language and life.
